Grindelwald RMG PW2063, William Lionel Wyllie, 1920s

Grindelwald grindelwald is a swiss ski resort south-east of interlaken. Although the wyllies were married in swizterland in 1879, this and other watercolours of the resort in the collection are the only evidence available that they had a holiday there, probably around 1920. Wyllie was especially skilled in painting snow landscapes, not only abroad, but also around his home on the medway when the river froze in 1896. Grindelwald. Date: 1920s.
