A depiction of a naval attack on 2 april 1755 against the fortress of tulaji angre (the admiral of the maratha navy) at suvarnadurg in konkan, along the western coast of india between mumbai and goa. The attack was led by commodore william james (c. 1721 – 16 december 1783) of the honourable east india company commanding the bombay marine ship protector, and involved the bomb ketches protector and bombay (the latter a locally built ship or "grab".
