The massacre of the justinians in scio by francesco solimena is a painting (oil on canvas, 277 x 164 cm) located in naples in the capodimonte museum (inv. Q 213), in the neapolitan gallery. The painting is a sketch by the artist for one of the canvases he created to decorate the ceiling of the council room in the palazzo ducale in genoa, paintings that were destroyed in a fire in 1777. It represents the martyrdom of eighteen members of the giustiniani family in a revolt by the turks against genoese domination in scio. Object Type: painting. Date: first half of 18th century.
