Portrait of maría de los dolores correas y espínola (1799-1872), daughter of juan de dios correas (mendoza, 1776 – valparaíso, 1842) and wife (in the portrait already widowed) of the argentine general juan lavalle (buenos aires, october 17, 1797 – san salvador de jujuy, october 9, 1841). Upon lavalle's death, dolores went to chile, where her father lived, with her children augusto, hortensia, dolores and juan bernabé. In 1842 she had her husband's remains transferred from potosí, bolivia, to valparaíso; in 1862 they were finally taken to argentina. Object Type: painting. Date: 1844. Medium: oil on canvas.
