The Deathbed of Mary, Melchior Feselen, 1531

Fragment of the left shutter of a maryan altarpiece. The panel was sawn through the middle into two pieces separating the front (interior) from the reverse (exterior). This was done after a piece was sawn off on the right. This fragment is now in schloss harburg in germany. The right shutter is still intact and is now in the posession of the state of bavaria. The exterior of the alterpiece showed the death (left) and the ascension (right) of the virgin mary. The interior shutters showed the adoration by the shepherds (left) and the adoration of the magi (right). Object Type: painting. Genre: religious art. Date: 1531. Place of creation: Passau (?).
