Portrait of metropolitan nifon - oil on canvas, 102x76. 3 cm, work signed and dated on the left, bottom, in red tattarescu 1862, and on the left, central, bears the inscription - nifon metropolitan ungro – valahie român ii - eforul spitalului brâncovenescu 1869. Metropolitan nifon was the one who, on april 29, 1856, held the marriage ceremony of gheorghe tattarescu and maria ioanidi. Metropolitan nifon recommended tattarescu to the oteteleșanu family for painting the chapel of the church in măgurele, this work being the first of its kind since the artist's return from studies in italy. Nifon also facilitated the painting of the zlătari church, in bucharest (1853) and the cetățuia, near râmnicu vâlcea (1854). Nifon's portrait participated, along with other paintings by the painter, at the bucharest exhibition of the society of friends of fine arts in 1873. Date: 1862. Dimensions: 102x76,3 cm.
