Popular scene in lima, oil on canvas, johann moritz rugendas
the german artist visited peru between december 1842 and july 1844. During his stay he produced more than three thousand drawings, watercolors and oil paintings. One of his works was the well-known popular scene in lima, in which he portrayed the deplorable hygienic state of the streets of our capital. In the lower left corner you can see the waste thrown onto the public road and the vultures that behaved "like poultry", carrying out the "cleaning" task that the english naturalist charles darwin had described a few years before. Date: 1800s.
