The archive contains an “oral” order from catherine ii: “to the painter eriksen for our standing portrait — 1,500 rubles, and for the painting of the tsarskoye selo peasant woman with her family — 600 rubles, a total of 2,100 rubles” (tsgia, f. 468, op. 1, part 2, d. 3887, l. 78). The painting was engraved by the english engraver j. Walker. In the issues of the saint petersburg gazette of october 28 and 31, 1791, an announcement was placed about the sale in klosterman’s shop on nevsky prospect of “a new print depicting a peasant woman surrounded by her sons and grandchildren, made from the original in the collection of her majesty i.
