She holds an open book inscribed 'monody on the death of the d------ of r------d' [rutland]. In the middle distance and on the extreme left a military officer stands on guard holding a sword and pistol: he says, "i am allways ready to pimp or bully. " 13 november 1789. Hand-coloured etching.
