Portrait of the spanish ecclesiastic juan pardo de tavera (1472-1545), who became cardinal of the catholic church, inquisitor general of spain, bishop of osma and ciudad rodrigo and archbishop of santiago de compostela and toledo. This portrait is a copy of the one painted by el greco of the same character, and was commissioned in 1879 by the national iconographic board to be part of the gallery of illustrious spaniards of the iconographic museum.
