El Compromiso de Caspe, Andrés Parladé, 1890

El Compromiso de Caspe, Andrés Parladé, 1890

The work represents the compromise of caspe, signed in 1412 and in which it was agreed that the infant fernando of castile (1380-1416), who was the son of king juan i of castile, would occupy the aragonese throne, which had been vacant since the death of king martin i of aragon. This painting was presented at the national exhibition of 1890, where it was negatively criticized for its excessive theatricality, although its realism was also praised. And after being shown in berlin, its author, who was at that time councilor for culture of the seville city council, gave it to this institution in 1901. Object Type: painting. Date: 1890. Medium: oil on canvas. Collection: Seville City Council. El compromiso de Caspe (Ayuntamiento de Sevilla)
