The double jurisdiction, an allegorical chimney piece painted by edmond plumier in 1714 for the mayor's chamber (burgemeesterskamer) in the town hall of maastricht, the netherlands. The figures in the background represent (from left to right): the bishop of liège (with key of saint servatius and bishop's staff), the duke of brabant (with the sword and the eye of justice) and the goddess minerva (wisdom).
