in the left middle-distance there is a port broadside view of a ship at anchor with her mizzen and mizzen topsail and spritsail loosed; main yard acockbill. On the right there is another ship with her main staysail hoisted and spritsail and spritsail topsail loosed; fore and main yards acockbill and fore topmast struck. In the centre, a ship is becalmed.
