Illustration by poul steffensen from the danish novel dronningens vagtmester by carit etlar which takes place during the dano-swedish war in 1658-1660. The novel end with svend poulsen, gøngehøvdingen, becoming lonely and withdrawn. His girlfriend karen kaas has married holger rud against her will and other takes advantages of his fight while he himself has been forgotten. His only happiness is the luck of his brother-in-law ib abelsøn and inger. The text doesn't tells but the two of has apparently been married and gotten a child. Svend poulsen (app. 1610 - app. 1679, at the right) was a real person but the story is fiction. The look of svend poulsen is also fantasy as there is no known portraits of him.
