Illustration by poul steffensen from the danish novel dronningens vagtmester by carit etlar which takes place during the dano-swedish war in 1658-1660. Svend poulsen, gøngehøvdingen, and his gønger has been at the gjorslev castle to free ib abelsøn. A fight broke out but thanks to the chicken boy palle the gønger won. The gønger takes away together with the noble people who has wanted to flee for a long time. Ib abelsøn and palle rides as the last ones but a swedish guard whom the gønger didn't captured shoots after them. Palle is hit and realises that he is going to die. He clings to ib abelsøn and asks him to beg for him while talking about the promised trumpet he won't get to blow now. Date: Original illustration from the 1890s, here reprint from 1909..
