Illustration by poul steffensen from the danish novel dronningens vagtmester by carit etlar which takes place during the dano-swedish war in 1658-1660. The noblewoman elsebeth buchwald, her daughter karen kaas and the nephew holger rud are about to flee from the swedish forces at the gjorslev castle. At midnight they walks through a gallery under the castle to get to a gate out to the moat. Here ib abelsøn waits with a boat for them. Holger rud carries stuff which elsebeth buchwald has packed down while she carry a box with her treasures. Karen kaas is relaxed because she wrongly thinks that her lover svend poulsen, gøngehøvdingen, waits for them. Date: Original illustration from the 1890s, here reprint from 1909..
