The noblewoman elsebeth buchwald has requested that svend poulsen, gøngehøvdingen, holes her hidden treasures at the søholm castle. On their way they meets a peasant who is feeding his bullocks. He tells that he is on his way to søholm with a coffin for the curate tange who has hung himself.
