Illustration by poul steffensen from the danish novel dronningens vagtmester by carit etlar which takes place during the dano-swedish war in 1658-1660. The noblewoman elsebeth buchwald has requested that svend poulsen, gøngehøvdingen, comes to her in arnøje. She welcomes him together with her nephew holger rud and her daughter karen kaas. Elsebeth buchwald explains how she has hidden jewellery, silver and money at the søholm castle when she had to flee from the swedes. Now she wants svend poulsen to bring it back to her. Svend poulsen (app. 1610 - app. 1679, at the right) was a real person but the story is fiction. The look of svend poulsen is also fantasy as there is no known portraits of him. Date: Original illustration from the 1890s, here reprint from 1909..
