Illustration by poul steffensen from the danish novel dronningens vagtmester by carit etlar which takes place during the dano-swedish war in 1658-1660. The chicken boy palle has given ib abelsøn a letter from the noblewoman elsebeth buchwald and her family who wants help to flee from the swedes at the gjorslev castle. When palle comes back to the hut of ib abelsøn the next morning ib abelsøn is preparing food and weapons. He tells palle about his plan and that palle has to free a boat and get the swedish guard drunk. Palle becomes happy because he has to fulfill a part of the plan and because ib abelsøn promises hum that he will become a horn blower.
