The widow mette gyde and the evil kulsoen sits at the fireplace in a small house. Mette gyde remarks that kulsoen shouldn't put so much peats on the fire because firewood are expensive during that winter. But kulsoen laughs and point out that they are soon going to be rich. The weak inger has a box with silverware hidden in the house which they can get theirs hands on when she dies.
