Svend poulsen, gøngehøvdingen, and his gønger has been at the gjorslev castle to free ib abelsøn. They leaves together with the noble woman elsebeth buchwald, her daughter karen kaas og the nephew holger rud who has wanted to flee for a long time. In the evening the next day they arrives at a poor hut to stay for the night. They are greeted by the fisherman david who is friendly to them but doesn't seems to smile that much.
