Antiquities of the russian country, 1846-1853. V. 1. Illustrator — solntsev, fyodor grigorievich panagia in the archbishop's vestry of the vladimir nativity monastery among the sacred utensils from different centuries in the archbishop's vestry of the vladimir nativity monastery we find a saint's silver, gilded panagia of the 17th century. It is memorable not only for the richness of its decorations, but also for the skill of its work. In the middle of it is inserted a cameo of onyx of a dull purple color with greenish stripes, depicting the savior; around it in hallmarks are the faces of the twelve apostles, including the four evangelists in the guise of an angel, an eagle, a lion and a calf. On the top is embossed an image of the savior not made by hands. Around both the cameo and the rim are set in nests of vinyl, chrysoprase, emeralds and pearls. On the reverse side, around the cross, there is the following inscription in four rows, which indicates to us not only the year, but also the creator of this utensil. We will offer it here from a photograph by mr. Solntsev: let /--zr`af, november day, under the reign of the blessed tsar and grand duke mikhail fedorovich of all russia and under his excellency patriarch filaret nikitich of moscow and all russia by order of their gd`r pilgrim vereya metropolitan averky. This panagia dates back to the time when vladimir, lukh and gorokhovets were cities of the patriarchal region. In 1624, joseph was named archbishop of suzdal and tarusa in the history of the hierarchy, and serapion was his successor from 1634. Between the reigns of one and the other, there remains a decade, occupied by no one. As for metropolitan averky of veria, his diocese was either veria in the region of the patriarch of constantinople, or syrian aleppo, which in ancient times was called veria and subsequently belonged to the patriarchate of constantinople. Thus, among the metropolitans of the eastern church who signed the charter for the appointment of the first moscow patriarch job, was metropolitan akakiy of veria. Therefore, it can be assumed that metropolitan averky, who came from veria during the reign of mikhail fyodorovich, arranged this panagia from the generosity of the tsar and patriarch. It may be that patriarch philaret granted the suzdal diocese to metropolitan averky of veria to manage between 1624 and 1634. An example of this was in 1589, when vladimir offered the constantinople patriarch jeremiah to manage. If this is so, then averky left the panagia as a keepsake in the sacristy of the rozhdestven monastery, where the vladimir hierarchs have had their residence since ancient times. Date: 1846—1853.
