Illustrator - solntsev, fyodor grigorievich amber staff of patriarch filaret nikitich between the grand ducal and royal staffs in the armoury chamber is the amber staff of patriarch filaret nikitich, sent to him in 1632 by the duke of courland jacob. This sign of respect from the duke to the patriarch dates back to the time when courland entered into relations with russia. After the death of patriarch filaret, this staff was included in the royal treasures. This staff, made up of amber pieces, is decorated with skillful carving in the german style. Date: 1846—1853.
