An antique shield decorated with gold, stones and enamel the shield shown in figure no. 64 is one of two absolutely identical ones kept in the armoury chamber under no. 4 and 5. In the inventory of 1687 they are listed second and third: “(g). The shield is sewn with drawn gold and silver; silver grass is sewn in places; the pommel of the shield and along the shield are six large targets and six half targets, between the targets are oblique links and above the crown are grass and a crown of gilded silver, carved; at the top of the pommel of the shield at the top is a large round jasper cloak, and below it are three smaller round jasper cloaks; in them on a string of burdock, and in three large targets three cloaks of a larger size of those round jasper, in them on a string of burdock, and in three half targets three cloaks of a quadrangular jasper; and in the middle of the shield in four places on an oblong jasper cloak; in all the jasper cloaks gold is embedded with nests, in the nests according to the goldsmith ivan myakhkov seventy-six sparks of cherubic worm-shaped, and fifteen emerald; including in the upper cloak a faceted emerald, in four places twelve turquoises are scattered; the pommel is in three large shalom-shaped sockets, and in three large targets, and in three half-shaped ones, in the large shalom-shaped sockets - seventy-two sparkles of cherubic wormwood, and nine turquoises, and in the pommel and near the shield in the crown and along the shield in large and half-shaped targets and in the crowns and in the grasses in the sockets in large and small one thousand three hundred and seventy-four turquoises large and small; lined and cushion of cherubic velvet, near the cushion ten silver rings with punches and with burdocks; the tie at the pillow and the weapon is an azure silk column. According to the label it is written: "to the great sovereign bowed the greek tsargorodets ivan matveyev, in the year r`i (1650). The price is fifty rubles. And according to the current census of the year and upon inspection, that shield matched the previous census books; the price of that shield was three hundred rubles, and in the previous inventory book it was written seventh. ”.
