Thick charcoal line divides sheet horizontally into two sections. Upper section contains three groups of figures: large, indistinct one at right; woman with two children, center, moving left; and the third group is in chaotic motion, at left; verso: at bottom right are ornamental motifs; at center is a blotter of two very rough sketches of people running, beside a vertical line. Date: 20 October 1886. Dimensions: 30.9 x 46.8 cm (12 3/16 x 18 7/16 in.). Medium: black ink on off-white wove paper, charcoal, pen and black ink, red chalk.
