Painting by théobald chartran showing a light-skinned egyptian girl playing a long-necked lute. Although named for the mandore, it bears no resemblance to that short-necked instrument. The instrument played in the picture is closer to an egyptian lute, or possibly a coptic lute. Also resembles the sintir, but a smaller and higher pitched version of that bass instrument. Object Type: painting. Date: 1879. Dimensions: height: 169.5 cm (66.7 in); width: 103 cm (40.5 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Collection: Private collection. Chartran - La joueuse de mandore, 1879FXD
