The Mint of Santiago, Ernest Charton, circa 1860

The Mint of Santiago, Ernest Charton, circa 1860

The mint, by ernest charton. You can see the small square that separated la moneda from the building occupied by the ministry of war, with trees, the statue of the french sculptor jean-joseph perraud, inaugurated on september 6, 1860, and two water basins (predecessors of the three graces) on its sides. The fact that charton has drawn the silhouette of the statue means that the oil painting is after the date of its inauguration. Object Type: painting. Date: circa 1860. Dimensions: height: 42 cm (16.5 in); width: 58 cm (22.8 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Collection: Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts. Charton, Ernest - La Casa de Moneda de Santiago -1860, MHN f1.2
