Gustave boulanger, phryne (study for the painting of 1850), private collection. Graphite drawing enhanced with watercolor and white gouache, laid 32 x 24 cm; signed, dated and located "rome. ", preparatory drawing for the oil on canvas of the same name, made in 1850 and kept at the van gogh museum in amsterdam. The famous greek hetaira (4th century bc) who served as a model for praxiteles and apelles is represented nude, half-reclining on a divan.
