His majesty crossed in a boat, in the middle of flooded fields, a space of five kilometers which separated him from tarascon. The emperor, deeply moved, traveled in his boat through the streets of this city entirely invaded by water, and distributed consolations and relief to the inhabitants who had taken refuge in the upper floors of their houses.
