Box, lobed, on loose foot, with gilded landscapes on black ground, Between 1700 and 1800

Lobed box with somewhat rounded lid. Seperate base with bowed legs. Inside the box a tray with five pointed inner boxes following the shape of the outer box. Black lacquer, decorated in hiramaki with water landscapes, butterflies and flowers. Accession number of the lid: ak-nm-6137. See also ak-nm-6135. Date: Between 1700 and 1800. Place of creation: Japan. Dimensions: height: 13.5 cm (5.3 in); diameter: 10.5 cm (4.1 in). Medium: gold, lacquer, wood. Collection: Rijksmuseum.
