Beetke van rasquert with the destroyed castle of ewsum in the background. In front of it are two premonstratensian monks. Top left the family crest with a red and black eagle, three roses and a cross consisting of a mythical animal and a sword. Beetke's painting was possibly made after the death of her husband wigbold van ewsum in 1528 and shows a tormented woman in front of the ruins of ewsum. The dog in the foreground and the ring on beetske's finger form an allegory to her marital loyalty to her husband. Date: between circa 1520 and circa 1530.
