The game of fondu horse pits two teams of four or five boys against each other: some, by holding on to each other, form a sort of horse that leans on a tree in front; the others jump on it astride, one after the other, with the aim of making the horse collapse: a game of strength for the horses, a game of agility for the riders who must jump far enough to find a place on the horse's back. If the horse holds, the roles are switched. Object Type: painting. Date: circa 1775/1780. Dimensions: overall: 115 x 87.5 cm (45 1/4 x 34 7/16 in.). Medium: oil on canvas.
