A dutch ship trying to claw off a rocky shore on the left, a port broadside view of a ship close-hauled on the starboard tack with only her fore course set; her main course has blown out of the bolt-ropes; a flag at the fore. Rocks in the centre foreground, with several men lying on them. In the right background are other rocks with a ship driving onto them. This drawing by the younger is signed in brown ink ‘w. V.
