A dutch flagship before the wind a port broadside view of a ship with a flag at the mizzen before a light breeze with only her mizzen topsail, spritsail and fore and main topmast staysails set. Several boats and small vessels are alongside. In the background a ship is saluting. It is inscribed on the back in a late hand ‘w van der velde 1677. ’ this is an unsigned pencil and wash drawing by the younger.
