A dutch flagship with a fresh beam wind a compositional drawing showing a dutch ship with the wind on the port beam and a flag at the main. In the left middle distance is another ship lying dead before the wind. The drawing is signed in grey ink: ‘w v velde jonge’ and is possibly a contemporary copy, or even a later imitation of a work by willem van de velde, the younger.
