A dutch flagship before the wind a near view from before the starboard beam of a ship with flag at the fore before a moderate breeze under fore and main courses and fore topsail, and main topsail half-mast high. This is a pencil and wash drawing by the younger, signed in brown ink ‘w. V. Vj’. A lot of pen and wash has been added by a later hand, possibly by charles gore. The head of the ship with the raised catheads has an english appearance and seems to be an addition. A dutch flagship before the wind. Date: circa 1677.
