Inside cover of the illustrated newspaper number 3538 from april 20, 1911 and the page now numbered consecutively with the number 1 with an almost full-page black and white print flanked by two decorative bands with the subtitle "the market church in hanover. By prof. Hermann schaper. (in the possession of her royal highness princess max of baden. )" from the painter's point of view, the view leads through the rain-soaked, shining köbelingerstrasse before the intersection with the newly constructed first transverse breakthrough since the middle ages through the old town of hanover, the (today) karmarschstrasse (at the time still the grupenstrasse section). On the left edge of the picture is the newly built and also oldest pharmacy in hanover, the ratsapotheke. On the right side is the south wing of the old town hall, built a few decades earlier by conrad wilhelm hase in the neo-gothic style. The scene, which is filled with children and numerous other people, shows, among other things, a hanover tram with the rear open on the line from linden via the then new market hall and on to the pferdeturm. The original - colored - oil painting can now be found in the hanover historical museum. Date: 1901.
