Stratton park. Stratton park (forerunner of woburn abbey west facade) was part demolished in 1767, by 6th duke of bedford. Following sale to the baring family, it was re-built and remodelled in 1801, mainly of plastered brick but had an impressive greek portico in portland stone with doric columns. The portico was listed but the rest of the building wasn't. In 1965, lord ashburton (baring) demolished the whole building except the portico, and built a modern house in its place. The stables survive, now called the clock house. Date: 1818.
