Oswald house, durham. Built in about 1800 for john richardby, a london merchant. Sold in 1806 to thomas wilkinson of brancepeth, a former mayor of durham. Sold again in 1828 to wilkinson's cousin rev percival spearman wilkinson of belmont, who had architect phillip wyatt convert the house into a full-scale mansion, mount oswald. The house has been the home of durham city golf club since 1928, but (as of 2014) there are proposals to redevelop the site for housing. [1]. Date: 1818.
