Decoratve Cross, design by Hans Holbein the Younger, 1532–39

Design for a cruciform. Pen and black ink, 6. 8 × 5 cm, british museum. Holbein may have designed this pattern for a jeweller to use. Such crosses were worn suspended from the ring at the top. The design includes four pearls on the inner corners of the arms (foister, p. 132). Date: 1532–39.
