(see source) this painting is an unfinished version of 'found' which deals with the fallen woman in contemporary victorian society. Fanny cornforth, rossetti's mistress, modelled for the woman in the picture. A farmer bringing his calf to market in london at dawn comes across a woman he once loved. She has become a prostitute and tries to hide. The calf trapped in the cart symbolises the past and present life of the woman. Object Type: painting. Date: circa 1854.
