Portrait of an unknown man, formerly identified as alfonso ii d'este (1533-1597) in the 19th century pedro de madrazo identified the model as alfonso ii d'este, but later michel hochmann determined, based on the similarity to a portrait located in the national museum of capodimonte, that it was an unknown young man (see image below).
