Depiction of the capture of delfzijl by maurice of nassau, 1 july 1591. The assault, that can be seen on this print, never took place. Instead the city surrenderd to maurice without a fight. This print originates from the workshop of frans hogenberg and was subsequently adapted for publication in willem baudartius’s polemographia auraico belgica (amsterdam, 1622).
