Title page to a tract entitled "de geschooren hoop", no. 33 in the series entitled "esopus in europa"; in the centre, an etching showing a boat arriving at an ottoman port, a frenchman standing on the prow bows towards the local ruler who stands on a rocky shore with an adviser at his side. Behind, is a fortress flying the french flag which is under attack by men climbing a ladder and rushing in on horseback; beside them a man is subjected to the bastinado (his feet being beaten). Buildings in the background include a mosque. 1702 etching with letterpress printed in black ink. Date: 1702.
