Description de dam / place du dam
the south side of the dam, seen towards (the later) zeemanshoop and the kalverstraat. On the right is a corner of the royal palace and the entrance to the gasthuissteeg (after 1875 paleisstraat). On the corner of kalverstraat is the warehouse of manufacturen a. Heyman, kalverstraat 2-4. This building was demolished with a number of other houses for the construction of the de groote club society in 1870. The three houses between kalverstraat and kromelleboogsteeg were renovated in 1837 for the de vriendschap society, dam 10 (old numbering). The zeemanshoop college had its seat there from 1864 to 1914. The adjacent buildings dam 16-20 to the corner of the beurssteeg were replaced around 1869 by the de rijnstroom building of the hajenius company.
