Portrait of caliope poenaru (1820-1890). Bucharest municipal museum. Caliope poenaru was petrache poenaru's wife. He was born in a family of byzantine origin and descended from the last musatin. Born hrisocoleo, she had two daughters with petrache poenaru: smaranda who died at the age of 20 (1867) in venice from tuberculosis and elena who died at the age of 10 also in venice.
