Tab. Xcv. On mythology. A) apollo in the clouds with the nine muses, of whom urania, crowned with stars, leans on a celestial sphere and holds a compass in her hand. Calliope, crowned with laurels, with a trumpet, leans on the three heroic poems of homer and virgil. The magnificently adorned melpomene has a dagger in her hand and cothurne on her feet. Thalia, crowned with vine leaves, has a mask in her hand and socks on her feet. Erato, crowned with flowers, plays the lyre. A small cupid with quiver and arrows stands next to her. Polyhymnia holds a roll of paper in her left hand with the inscription: suadere. Clio, crowned with laurels, holds a trumpet. Euterpe, crowned with flowers, plays the flute. Terpsichore, adorned with a garland of flowers, dances to a tambourine. Pegasus rides on helicon, from which the hypocrenic spring flows. (description according to source). Date: 1774.
