The buildings, which stand out straight on both sides, are continued by two circular colonnades, of doric order. In the middle is a magnificent pyramid, 130 palms high, hewn from a piece of rock in egypt, and erected here by sixtus v through the architect fontana. To the right of the church is the vatican. The pope blesses the catholics in a large assembly and condemns all heretics with the words: just as i throw this burning torch out of the window, so god will also reject the heretics.
