Tab. Lxxxv. D) coat of arms of the prince of anhalt-dessau. The shield holders are two black bears with silver collars. The shield, on which a princely hat rests, is divided three times lengthwise and four times crosswise and has a central shield. One half of this has half a red eagle in the silver field, and the other a field with ten black and gold stripes, above which lies a green diamond wreath, representing the principality of anhalt. Like this last half, the first field is in the first row, representing the duchy of saxony. The second blue field has a golden crowned eagle, representing the duchy of westphalia. In the third silver field are three red schröter horns, representing the duchy of engern. In the first silver field of the second row there is a red slanting battlement wall with a golden gate, on which a black bear climbs with a crown and a collar of gold, because of the descent from the old bäringers. The third field on the other side of the central shield has five black and five gold horizontal stripes, because of the county of ballenstädt. The first field of the third row is a twelvefold black and silver chess in four rows, because of the county of askania. The second is squared in gold and red, because of the lordship of waldersee. The third blue field has two gold left diagonal bars, because of the county of warmsdorf. The first blue field of the fourth row has an eagle, because of the county of mühlingen. The second field is completely red, because of regalia. The third silver field has a black bear with a silver collar, which climbs the battlements of a red slanting wall with a silver gate, because of the lordship of berenburg.
