The canvas represents chintila, who was king of the visigoths between the years 636 and 639 or 640. He succeeded king sisenando and was in turn succeeded by his son, king tulga. King chintila is represented standing, in a probably religious interior, with his hand resting on an open book on an altar, behind which is a cross that evokes asturian pre-romanesque goldsmithing.
